Armstrong is currently providing master planning services for the Craig-Moffat County Airport located in northwest Colorado. The airport encompasses approximately 277 acres and is owned and operated by Moffat County and the City of Craig.
The City of Craig and Moffat County are completing an airport master plan to comprehensively study the short, medium and long-term development plans for the airport in order to meet current and future aviation demands. This study will be used by the City, County, State and Federal officials to plan, prioritize and fund the maintenance and development of the airport.

This project consisted of repairing the existing asphalt parking lot and overlaying the existing pavement with a new 2-inch asphalt surface course.
This project included the construction of a new airport terminal building that included a pilot’s lounge, restrooms, conference/break room, and office space. This facility has become a major asset to the airport, and is used frequently by transient pilots, aerial fire fighters, and for airport board meetings.
Prior to this project, the airport had signage and lighting on the taxiways that did not meet current FAA standards. This project removed any non-standard lighting and guidance signs, and installed new lighted runway hold position and taxiway identification signs. As a result of this project, the taxiway signage was updated to reflect the proper taxiway designations. Though this project did not generate a significant impact to the airport, it played an important role in keeping the airport in compliance with FAA standards.
This project included the rehabilitation of the northwestern half of the aircraft parking apron. The project consisted of profile milling the existing pavement, sealing any remaining cracks, installing an overlay fabric, and placing a 3-inch asphalt overlay. The project also included the construction of two concrete v-pan gutters to improve surface drainage on the apron.
Pavement maintenance is one of the most important priorities of any airport. Preserving the pavements, which are the lifeblood of the airport, ensures that the airport will remain a viable and safe facility for years to come. The two episodes of pavement maintenance that we were involved in consisted of crack sealing, applying a rejuvenating fog seal, and remarking the pavement markings. These projects were completed on-time and on-budget, and were phased to minimize impacts to airport operations. Also, during the 2010 pavement maintenance project, new retroreflective taxiway edge markers were installed along the taxiways to improve the safety of taxiing aircraft.
