PLANNING SERVICES

AIRPORT MASTER PLAN & BUSINESS PLAN

Armstrong Consultants completed an Airport Master Plan and Airport Business Plan for Marana Regional Airport. This airport is considered to be a reliever facility for Tucson International Airport. With more than 260 based aircraft and 80,000 operations in 2014, the airport plays a key role in the community and region.

MASTER PLAN FEATURES

Marana Regional Airport’s master plan includes recommendations for:

• Runway extension
• Rehabilitation and strengthening of runway pavements
• Removal of non-standard taxiway configurations
• Removal of an itinerant parking apron that falls within the runway visibility zone (RVZ)
• Reconfiguration of the existing helicopter parking apron
• Identification of location for conventional box hangars and shade structures with taxiway access
• Air traffic control tower

BUSINESS PLANNING

Armstrong developed an airport business plan to analyze the assets and resources at the airport. This document considered outside factors and opportunities that may be leveraged to increase the effectiveness of the airport as an economic engine and catalyst for future growth. Our team is working to improve the airport’s revenue stream by providing new aeronautical access and services to support economic development in the region.
