Show Low Regional Airport became an Armstrong client in 2011. Since then, we have completed numerous AIP projects, a few of which are outlined below.

Armstrong is in the process of completing an Airport Master Plan for the Show Low Regional Airport, a commercial service airport, serving the City of Show Low, Pinetop, and Northeastern Arizona. Due to meteorological and topographical conditions in the region, there are significant shifts in wind direction which greatly affect airport users. The existing runway system includes a primary runway and crosswind runway. Their crosswind runway however no longer meets FAA criteria for runway protection zones and also significantly imposes on future development areas. As a result, Armstrong placed emphasis on evaluating a wide range of options for future crosswind runway configurations that met all FAA design standards, provided optimum crosswind coverage, and balanced development opportunities versus proposed project cost. Through engaged stakeholder involvement, the City selected a recommended alignment for the future crosswind runway that will allow the airport to provide greater development opportunities while enhancing aviation safety.
Today, the airport is finalizing this airport master plan which will be able to provide leverage for progression of this crosswind runway project.
This project consisted of the installation of two single circuit 69kV underground transmission lines. The underground transmission lines were installed in two separate trenches that will run along Penrod Road.
New steel transition poles were installed at each end of each trench and dropped the existing 69-kV overhead transmission lines underground. One fiber cable pulling box will be installed next to each transition pole for a communication circuit to monitor the power circuit.
After the trenches were complete, the power cable and fiber communication cable were installed and terminated at the new transition poles.
This project involved the resurfacing Runway 6/24. Construction included rotomilling approximately two inches of asphalt, crack sealing the milled surface, placing crack fabric, paving a 3 inch mat and pavement marking. The pavement base course was not be disturbed.
Resurfacing Runway 6/24 included rotomilling two inches of asphalt, crack sealing the milled surface, placing crack fabric, paving a two inch mat, reusing milling on shoulders, pavement marking, surface grooving and the replacement of sign panels. This work included the replacement of signs and remarking surfaces to reflect updated runway designations as directed by the FAA. Both lighted and unlighted sign panels were included in the project. Surface painted hold signs were remarked with updated numerals and use Type III and Type I Grade A glass beads.
